Before you click a link
Seven quick questions for any link in a message, advert or QR code.
Or press Ctrl+P (Cmd+P on a Mac). The printout leaves out menus and adds the site name, address and date.
- Did I expect this message, and did it arrive because of something I just did?
- Is it trying to rush me with a deadline, a threat or a reward that ends soon?
- Could I reach the same page by opening my own bookmark or the official app instead?
- Does the full web address match the real site exactly, with no extra words, odd characters or a different ending?
- If I tap a QR code, have I read the address my phone shows before opening it?
- Will the page ask for a password, a code, a payment or a recovery phrase? If yes, close it and go to the site myself.
- If I am unsure, have I asked someone I trust, or simply left it until tomorrow?
When in doubt, do not click. A genuine message will still make sense when you check it another way.
We will never ask for your recovery phrase, keys or passwords. General safety education, not financial advice. Free to print and share for non-commercial use.
